Since the early 1970s Russel Friedman was involved in conservation in southern Africa. He was a founder member of the Vulture Study Group, became Southern Africa’s foremost natural history publisher and bookseller and founder of the Wilderness Wildlife Trust. Russel passed away February 2018.
Andrew Leontsinis has been a director of Bell Dewar since 1988 and specialises in corporate and commercial law. Andrew has been a Trustee of the Wilderness Wildlife Trust since its inception in 1998. Bell Dewar, established in 1890, is an ISO 9001 certified law firm.
Dr. John Ledger
John is an experienced author and editor, with several books, many scientific papers and a host of popular science articles listed in his publications. In addition to his careers in medical research and conservation, he is also an authority on energy, and until recently was Associate Professor of Energy Studies at the University of Johannesburg. He is currently Visiting Associate Professor at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Mari dos Santos
Mari dos Santos has been involved in the travel industry since 1977. She joined Wilderness Safaris in 1999 as personal assistant to the CEO and is now fulfilling the role of administrator/secretary for the Wilderness Trust.
Chris, currently Chief Marketing Officer at Wilderness Safaris, began in the ecotourism industry in the mid-1990s, and at Wilderness in 2005. He has a Master’s degree in springbok ecology, (following an Honours degree that evaluated conservation consciousness as related to the Knysna elephants), and is widely published in both academic and popular media.
Ilana has been involved in ecotourism since 1998 and is currently head of the Creative Team at Wilderness Safaris, as well as the company’s editor. She has written and/or edited the Trust Annual Report since its first edition, in 2006
